Prussian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt leaves Sydney by ship, bound for Brisbane, to explore unknown territory beyond the Darling Downs. After 16 months, Leichhardt and his team were presumed dead, when they heroically turned up at their destination, Port Essington, 300km northwest of Darwin.
